API:What is Dtvsand
From KyteWiki
Dtvsand is our 'sandbox' server that we provide for partner integration testing. This sandbox server always contains the latest version of the kyte.tv website.
The sandbox server is at host: www.dtvsand.net. To send API calls to this server, you would need to change your API URL to http://www.dtvsand.net/services/xmlrpc.(Or http://www.dtvsand.net/services/rest). Note that user populations are different between the kyte.tv site and the dtvsand site, so you would need to register your own users on the sandbox server to test.
Dtvsand is also a development site and requires a 'site-level' password, when you view the site with your browser you will need to enter this site-level user and password before you have access to the site features. Once you have access you may view your uploaded content and register users just like on the production kyte.tv website.
Dtvsand is provided as a test environment for our API partners and not guaranteed to be up 24/7. If you are planning to demo off the sandbox server, please inform Kyte 24 hours beforehand so that we can ensure its availability.
Additional factors to note about Dtvsand is that it is a single node server, whereas the Kyte production platform runs on a multi-node server cluster. The media you upload to Dtvsand is served out of local disk as opposed to production, which uses a high-throughput Content Distribution Network(CDN).
Features in the next release are available for testing/preview on Dtvsand2. Once a beta version of the upcoming release is ready, partners will be notified of its availability on host: www.dtvsand2.net
